SLS (SARAS Learning Spaces) is an e-Learning portal that assimilates and displays information from varied sources in one convenient space. Its web 2.0 capabilities promote fruitful collaboration, between the learning community, customers and other stakeholders.

SLS creates an information domain by facilitating contributions, posting queries and comments, rating artifacts and subscribing to news, audio & video feeds etc. The portal facilitates intelligent interactions and knowledge sharing by bringing together people of comparable profiles. SLS builds a network of all learning resources available to the community as well as a graphically illustrated network of all connected learners and contributors who can interact via various web 2.0 means.

The graphical representation shows the various connections a learner has - in terms of the specific subjects he is learning. The thicknesses of the lines indicate the level of interaction.

    These are spaces that are defined by the user's profile. It could be fifth graders for example. By bringing together users in a particular stage of learning, the owner of the learning space can enhance the learner's value addition to the collaborations and discussions.

  • Content Centric Learning

    Owners of the learning space can create a classification based on course content. It could be for example - a space devoted to mechanical engineering. He can then search for profiles of learners who match the content classification and invite them to join in this space.

  • Shared Document - the key to collaborative learning

    Users of SLS can share documents relevant to their learning objective with other members. Other learners can access these documents and refer the same in their artifacts.

  • Learner ranking to create hierarchy and encourage progress

    SLS allows learners to be ranked as per their competency and understanding of the topic and the level of his contributions to discussion forums, wiki and blogs. These rankings incentivize learning and encourage learners in a particular learning space to interact with higher ranked learners and improve their understanding of the subject.

  • My Network - Featuring all learning spaces a member is registered into

    With My Network, every member can view a list of all learning spaces he is a part of. He can view other member's details in a learning space, as well as view or navigate to the artifacts or web 2.0 tools listed in the learning space. This gives him a bird's eye view of his network.

  • Activity Report - Status reports on the learners activities in the learning space

    The Activity Report brings up to the minute information on various parameters that impact the learning curve of the user. The report details:

    • All the activities performed by the members
    • Date and time spent on artifacts, Learning Space or tools used.
    • Generate pie charts and bar graphs
