SARAS Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is an online, dynamic, content rich and efficient application which presents two types of Assessments such as Random Assessments and Configured Assessments, providing a teaching and learning tool designed to enhance learning experience. VLE is an ultimate learning environment to offer knowledge.
VLE helps learners/ participants/ students to gain confidence and satisfaction by checking and understanding the concepts learnt through assessments, which in turn helps participant’s expertise on the subjects. VLE allows tutors/ instructors to access a specific learning process by creating and scheduling assessments, monitor participant’s involvement and evaluate participant’s performance. Tutors/ Instructors can pick and choose from a vast array of 26(25- pls verify) question types of IMS 1.2 and 2.0 specifications to stimulate participant’s knowledge. Matrix, Matching, Essay style questions, Fill in the blanks static, Multiple choice static, Multiple response static, True or False, Hotspot, Drag and drop are few among the question types. Through live reports, participants can review their results and reports anytime. Participants can view assessment- wise reports and question- wise reports. VLE allows Import/ Export of questions from other learning objects. VLE expands its functionality and inter operability with other information systems such as object library management and digital library management. Tutors can schedule assessments to a selected participant or a group of participants.
The biggest strengths of VLE are its ease of use and custom- built interface to suit the target audience, be it an academic or corporate. The Administrator of SARAS VLE manages the entire system administration, organizations, roles, users, groups and IP addresses.
